For those of us who deal with weather as part of the disc golf season, we all know that itch to play when it has just been awful weather for the last week or two. Well that was Carl and I this last weekend. The weather was a blistering 35F with winds up to 22mph so obviously that wasn’t the driving force. We had gotten snowed out the previous weekend and the forecast showed snow the following day and pretty much the rest of the month.
We had to get a round in.
The snow was soft but dense so discs would just tombstone in place. Unfortunately, there was enough snow that a vertical disc would still be under the snow.
This made for a fun time cleaning snow off of discs.
The round actually went pretty well. Since the snow was pretty fresh, it was somewhat easy to find the entrance wounds in the snow.
Hole 11, the famous Christmas Tree hole, was pretty fun. I happened to have one of my biggest throws and ended up pin high on whites for a long birdie look. Unfortunately, I hit the front cage…
Carl ended up turning his over and landing on the hole 12 tee pad. He parked his approach for an easy 3. I say this because this is about the time we learned that we were following big foot through this round. Look at the stride of the steps in the following photo…
It was insane I had to hope between his footsteps so I wouldn’t fill my shoes with snow…This trend continued the rest of the round. The reason this is so long and winded of course is to avoid talking about the score card…we’ll just say it wasn’t one of our good rounds…

Still played disc golf though.
